Having the opportunity to express ideas for designing the interior of a Phinisi boat made we feel like we was part of this archipelago nation.
The 42-meter-long Phinisi ship, Jeeva Samudera, was designed to explore Indonesian waters. Jeeva Samudera sails to destinations such as Lombok, Labuan Bajo, the waters of South Sulawesi, Raja Ampat, and Cendrawasih Bay.
Jeeva Samudera features six suites, a restaurant, a lounge, and expansive decks, allowing for 180-degree views of the landscape.
Every detail reflects traditional seafaring craftsmanship while embracing modern comforts.
Jeeva Samudera’s interiors bring history to life through woodwork, rich textures, traditional textiles, and warm colors.
- The theme of Each Bedroom featuring the story of the Maluku Islands, also known as the Moluccas, whose position as the “Spice Islands” was rich in cloves and nutmeg. The Maluku island became a prime destination for European traders for centuries. This led to colonial competition, particularly between the Portuguese, Dutch, and British, who established power there to control the spice trade.
Painting of the beauty of the Molucas is as the headboard of each bedroom making the focal point. The wall bedroom is cladded with rattan .The Tanimbar textile, Lokcan and Patola Pattern also incorporated in the interior bedroom represent the textile that is used as trading at that era. - Bar and Lounge
The bar and lounge area is luxuriously and functionally designed to serve as a hub for entertainment and socializing on board. The bar material using blue onyx stone that have transparent effect and lights can go through. The sofas with buckle up accessories and tables inspired by old suitcases serve as unique statement pieces that blend vintage European with modern functionality . - Open Main Deck
The main deck is designed as an open and spacious social space, featuring elegant wooden decking that creates a warm and luxurious atmosphere. This open deck is equipped with a large wooden dining table for fine dining under the stars, as well as a comfortable seating area. The design incorporates the staircase often serving as a focal point. - Roof Top Deck
The Roof Top open deck maximizes the 360-degree panoramic view of the sea and islands, with daybeds and open bar allowing guests to enjoy the atmosphere at sunset or sunrise.
The interior design incorporates natural materials to represent Indonesian ethnic wisdom while considering the durability needed to withstand environmental conditions such as sunlight and sea exposure. All fittings meet marine requirements.
What makes designing this Phinisi ship so special is that naval architecture is very different from designing buildings.
It requires extra attention to detail, avoid sharp angles, and safety considerationsThe design also aims to create a more luxurious and spacious space.
